The Spring Drizzle
by Du Fu (712 - 770)
Let's sing of the blessing drizzle,
That comes timely in spring,
Slipping in with nocturnal breeze,
To tacitly nourish vegetation.
Out of darkness enshrouding hill and dale,
Dotted with lights from river boats,
Miraculously emerges in the morning,
A gorgeous flowery sight,
Of the city of Brocade Wearers.
